Why Reproductions (prints)?
It’s true. All of my art is now available as prints, in any size you like. Create an oasis of favourite places in your home, just by ordering and having your prints shipped right to your door.
Why Prints?
The correct term for what we commonly call “prints” is “reproductions”. A true print is made with one of several art printing processes and is an original artwork in itself. For convenience, I will use the terms “print” and “reproduction” to mean a reproduction made with the giclee process and highest quality archival inks and surfaces.
I now offer very high quality reproductions of your favourite original paintings. Reproductions look like the real thing- you can have them on paper or on stretched canvas.
You can even have them embellished by hand so they look that much more like original paintings. An “embellished print” is a print on stretched canvas to which I have added acrylic paint strokes to create depth and texture like an original painting. Each is unique as the paint is added by me, with a brush.
Stretched Canvas prints are made with the museum quality giclee process as well, then stretched on wood canvas stretchers just like an original canvas painting. You can choose the thickness of the sides: a gallery depth is 1.5 inches, and a regular depth is .75 inches. Both can be framed, but most often gallery depth is finished in black or white and hung on the wall unframed.
Art prints on paper are printed with museum quality giclee inks on highest quality rag paper. They come with a white mat for easy framing and you can have it custom framed before shipping or pop it in a standard size frame you pick up at a framing shop. Usually paper prints are framed with glass in front to protect the print. Prints on rag paper can cost nearly as much as prints on stretched canvas, as the paper is very costly.
Prints on high quality photographic paper are less expensive than rag paper prints.
The size of the print is really up to you and where you want to hang it. You can have it made as large or as small as you like.
Size does determine price, as does the surface material you choose.
Paper prints require framing, gallery depth stretched canvas prints do not. With their added texture, embellished prints on canvas look very much like an original painting.
Framing can be done by popping your print into a ready made standard size frame, or you can go more expensive by choosing a custom framing option. My print shop will work with you to create a beautiful custom framed print, shipped directly to your home.
With prints, the sky is the limit! You can print a small painting much larger, or. large painting much smaller.
As long as you follow the aspect ratio (the length and width of the painting relative to each other) you can do anything you like. A square painting can’t be printed as a rectangle, nor can a rectangular painting be printed as square. A long skinny work can’t be printed taller or shorter than its aspect ratio- it will always be long and skinny.
